5th day of MC since knee surgery

Status: SO SO SO BORED!

5 days being confined in my room is no joke. It really takes a toll on you when all you can do is sleep, change ice pack, carry your knee to a softer side of the bed, sms. On and on this process repeats itself..

The whole surgery involved drilling in just 2 screws into my knee to secure the graft, whereas my jaw had 60 over metals parts to secure itself. I feel that I should give more delicate care to my knee.

This surgery definitely has not been easy at all, puked anything I consumed on my first and second day. I needed the nurse help to get dress when I was discharged. Wheelchaired from point A to B. Being escorted EVERYWHERE I wanted to hop.

But life was better today, Chelsea, Auntie, girlfriend and McSpicy all came over to keep me company. It is really scary how loneliness can strike you so hard, you find yourself falling slowly into a depression every hour of the day. Thank goodness for all the 4 of you, made my recovery less torturous.

It is days like these where I truly sympathies my grandparents. When they are forced to stay at home, feel as though they are a burden to others whenever a chore needs to be done, being less mobile.

A lesson learnt.

Note to self:
1)Never frown when they ask for help, smile

2)Sit down with them and ask them how is their day

12 days of liquid diet. I was not even aware I drooled on my table

I was talking to a old friend from cj, lace, she’s always been a good cook.

But gosh,  I did not know she was that good.

Baking session with her once I can start to eat again, awesome!

And I’m alive!

Today is the 12th day since I went under the knife..

I would like to thank everyone for all your care and concern, it meant a lot to me.

Dawn:

Thank you for all your love. These days, I could not ask for more from a sister. You have been an absolutely loving sister and I must say I was quite surprised that you had such great ability of taking care of me, I thought your best way of taking care of me is to provide me hot therapeutic massages a.k.a pouring scorching hot peanut soup on me – that was back in Oasis Garden.

I will forever be grateful for all you have done for me. Preparing the toilet and my room for me the day I was discharged so that I didn’t have to pant up and down the stairs preparing it myself. Anticipating all my drool and intercepting it before it hits my clothes or the sink. Most importantly, keeping me sane by communicating with me despite me taking a slightly longer time to response, with either illegible handwriting or impossible charades, sharing with me the latest gossips and bitching with me. Thanks for everything, words are just not enough to express my gratitude. But just know, I will forever remember those days. It’s actually quite sad that I’m recovering so well, things may revert back to how it was. Hahhaha.

Na:

Although we stay reside in different residential locations now. Your concern and warmth as my sister did not go unnoticed. I’ve been very grateful for these 2 sperms daddy produced, my sisters. You 2 have been the greatest sister a brother could have. I thank you for making time for me despite being on leave, following me to see my surgeon during my follow-up visit and also paying for all my food and fruits which we bought in NTUC.

Although you cannot be there for me in my RESIDENTIAL LOCATION, I know you do try to make up for it by keeping in contact with me via text messaging etc.

Especially holding a popiah party at home today so that I could join all of you all on the table with my piece-of-shit meal, thanks for all the thought and many messages you send to me.

Rest of family + maid:

Grandparents for “CHOI CHOI”, when I recite to them the possible complications I face for this surgery. I bet I’m fine because of all these little noises you 2 made.

Maid: Cleaning up the mess I make, on the floor, table, sink, blender, chopping board, fridge, toilet, sink, sieve, and the hundreds of cup you have to wash cause of my liquid diet. Without you, my finger would wrinkle up. And I would probably choke because the syringe would just slip down my throat.

Mum: You’re just the best mother a son could ever get. The 10th day, late into the night, I had to be rushed to A&E, but seeing that you had to work till late tomorrow, I offered to go A&E myself or get Yvette to drive me down instead. But you immediately put that aside and said your ‘martyr’ speech (“I will accompany you, don’t need for all these, it is a mother’s responsibility”) really touched me. It was that day I was reminded why I even studied so hard in the first place. Really, it wasn’t to prove to bastard or dad that I was stupid. But so that I could keep my promise of taking care of you in your retirement and hopefully give you proper allowances in the future.

You never show that you were tired or irritated despite all the trouble I put you through. It is just amazing that you are so patient when even I’m annoyed that I give all of you so many problems. Thanks for everything.

Dad: You’re such a quiet guy and I wonder if you dislike talking actually. But I guess everyone is just different, you have your ways to communicate but you just probably dislike being out of your comfort zone. But once you are within the comfort of your family you will always find it fun to crack jokes in the car with your purposely-crafted stupid comments. But I never knew a side of you which existed; probably the reason mum married you for. A side which all of us kids never seen. You actually are a sensitive machine. Always asking my needs and driving me around to shop for all my groceries, patiently waiting for me to type out my messages in the car and talking to me with whatever I said.

Yvette:

Hello girlfriend, I just threatened you to not to disrupt my train of thoughts or I will not write you a due thank you in this entry. And WOW you’re obedient right now!

Love you.

Thanks.

Bye.

Fellow friends and other family members(cousins especially):

For all the visits and messages I received from all of you. Amazingly, all the messages I received is wayyyyyy more than I had for my birthday. It is absolutely great and heartwarming to know that all of you care for me. You have no idea how stress and worried I was just days from my surgery. I had to mentally prepare myself for paralysis and even death. Just in case.

All the messages and calls I got, I’m very grateful for all of them. Because every single word of encouragement and well wishes really did help to calm my nerve!

Special thanks to Gene and Kel. Both of you came all the way just for me, Kel who dropped by 3 times just to see me and pass me yogurt she bought. Its really sweet. I would “awww” but my face was numb and an express less dead face was all you get, which I wished I could give you a more grateful face.

Thank you all my friends that constantly check on my recovery and comforting me the night before my surgery. It is very heartwarming to know that people care about you when you’re face with such a different environment. Thanks for all the ”last” meals we had together week before my surgery too, all the humor and joking did make the anticipation less head throbbing .

PEK PEK

Its extremely sweet of you to call me and message me from UK the day before my surgery. Ultimately touch. Thanks for being such a great friend and expressing it in such a self-sacrificing manner. Thanks for all the entertaining and amusing conversation these days. I can’t wait for your return.

Yvette:

If I don’t type this, we’ll probably end up arguing at night. SOOOOO.

Thanks for all your comforting and reassuring that all will go well. You were there for me in ICU and it is great to have someone who could talk cock with me in that bloody uncomfortable bed. You sat there almost 6 hours watching me sleep, eat and playing Pictionary with me. It is great to have a girlfriend who is also my best friend.

Thank you for sacrificing so much for me, straining relationship with your family just so that you could spend more time with me, taking me for road trips because I was dying at home. Being the shock absorber for all my pms-ing due to my pangs of hunger, you’ve showcase your role as your girlfriend during these period of time and I’m really happy to have you. Thanks dear.

Anyone which I missed out, a warm thank you from Zac Lee to you.

Update on my recovery:

Hopefully tomorrow the wire that binds my mouth shut will be removed so that I can changed to semi-solid food. =) *cross fingers*

Lost 9kg to date, currently 61kg

My fart smells extremely terrible, due to dairy products. And it comes in huge quantity. I can still feel it lingering under my blanket as I type this entry on my bed.

Next entry: The surgery.

Knee surgery confirmed. 6th July 2009

I just returned from Tan Tock Seng Hospital. I had an appointment with my knee specialist who confirmed I have a ligament torn in my right knee. Now, I have done a lot of research about this injury so far, and I’m able to explain my injury in the most profound medical term.

(In case you’re not interested in my evaluation of my condition, just know this, DO NOT WEAR SOCCER BOOTS WHEN PLAYING CAGE SOCCER(FAKE GRASS),  ITS BETTER TO SLIP THEN TO TWIST YOUR KNEE LIKE I DID)

The MRI I went for 2 weeks ago reviewed that a ligament, Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), was completely torn. The ACL is located between the femur(Thigh) and tibia(shin) bone. The functionality of the ACL is to prevent excessive forward movement of the femur bone, essentially, preventing the bone from slipping off.

It is a crucial ligament for twisting and turning action of the knee. Although many people might opt against the surgery for fear of the excruciating recovery period, however if one is to continue participating in high-demand activities. It could would  lead to further instability of the knee which may also result in relapse episodes of the ‘popping’ of the knee, or lead to wear and tear to surrounding muscles and ligaments, or damages to the knee catilage, or worse, complete dislocation or fractures.

Thus I opt for an autograft surgery, where a piece of my hamstring tendon is ‘harvested’ and screwed securely over my ACL. It is a endoscopic(keyhole) surgery which would take 2 hours under general anthesiatic.

Now I read about the way the surgery is done. I felt my stomach juice coming out.

Its painful.

Just to summarize, there will be a drilling of my femur and tibia bone, there will be insertion of intrusion titanium screws, during surgery there would be a cable which would run through from the bottom of my knee up to my thigh to place the ‘harvested’ tendon securely, there will be blood.

I would get a 2 months MC for me to rehabiliate at home, and intensive physiotherapy sessions for approximately a year before I am able to participate again in high-demand activity again with little difference in the functionality from my knee as before.

Below is the surgery process which awaits me in less than 2 months:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8EpT3uCVWU&feature=related

My mum just walked out on me when I tried to show her the surgery process. Her knee buckled half way through the clip. Sigh. Mum’s can be soooo tactful.

Transportation? NO PROBLEM.

img_5482

Having a car is so important.

The past whole week, 24/7, I had an automobile all for me to use, without any restrictions or curfew. This is the zenith of my newly acquired car license. And the best news, I’m able to wake up 1hr later since driving to camp is only 300 seconds away.

My boots is converted to my personal closet, formal shoes, casual shoes, slippers, socks, golf clubs, prawning rod, fishing rods, laptop and various chargers.

Rear seats are used to keep my uniform and pyjamus crease free

Front seats is occupied by Michael Buble most of the time; occassionally, Linkin Park, Maroon 5 and Click 5 joins me by the front. Cup holder has a permanent 500ml bacteria-free cup with a 1.5l bottle of coke refill by the side.

Life can be so convenient. Despite the fact that I’m always the source of mockery in my camp’s car park. Side tracking a little, you see, my car is actually maroon in color (Confirmed by Yvette), however, the numerous dents and scratches all over my car makes it really difficult to distinguished the actual shade at times. Thus the need to pursuit a second opinion from Yvette.

Well. these are the comments today:

“EH ZAC, WHEN YOU TRY TO DRIVE ON 2 WHEELS, YOU DON’T COMPENSATE BY RIDING WITH YOUR DOORS”

“ZAC, how the hell do you even get a dent on your roof?”

“bro, my cousin died in an accident and his car was more shiny than yours man”

And someone always shouts in the morning..

“MONSTER TRUCK LAI LIAO!!”

Just heard that my family who is residing in Australia now, ripped off their rented car side mirror. Hope their able to sneak off compensation without reporting the damages, probably going to cost a bomb.

Signing out.

sprouting wings shall flap again

img_5451Hi all,

I’m back.

After 2 years of inactivity, I decided to begin blogging again.

Why the sudden urge you might ask, Yvette’s constant yapping and nagging to resuscitate this blog is not the prime reason. But during my brain-dead year(ever since I graduated), I’ve come to realise that my english has deteoriorated tremendously, super duper bad. Such that you will realise that these entries are very different from 2 years ago.

Maturity? Nope, I doubt it. But you’re just seeing the effects of a pact I made with myself this Lent:

1) No more swearing (Primarily one word only, which also denotes intense sexual intercourse)

2) All sms, msn conversation and written messages are strictly Cambridge standard.

Yes. What you see here, would be what you will see if you were my ‘A’ level invigilator. Nothing less, the very very best of Zachary Lee’s English. Yes. Do shoot me down if you have to. Condemn my poor grammar and vocabulary. I need the pressure and help.

I tell you solemnly, this is not the way I usually would express myself. But its necessary since I’m no longer a teenager as of 10 April

The long hours I have these few days also attributed to me finding joy in jotting down my thoughts on a blog.

Simply because Neopets, Youtube, Pet society, Facebook, Karaokeparty and MusicIndia seems more and more like a chore.Repetitive and mundane after a while; but still, Neopets? Don’t judge me. I’m only playing it because I found out through some nerd incredibly studious person forum that Neopoints can be sold for cash. Some fools were actually willing to pay one hundred. Wah Such Joy.

Furthermore, school is going to commence in approximately a year time. Seeing that I cannot get a place in Business faculty, I probably have to get used to writing crazy long reports in FASS again, just as I had in junior college years. Being an arts student requires high proficiency and eloquent usage of the English Language, and i certainly cannot afford to let it be my stumbling block in such a crucial part of my education. So it all begins today.

May I flap again.

i finally found the truth… after so long…..

There was a period of time, where there was a popular little song..

“onion onion poot poot poot

 bawang bawang poot poot poot”

Well,

today proves that onion and garlic do make you fart.

I swear i felt myself thrust forward.

June Holidays

Hello world,

its been a while since i last blog, due to overwhelming response of 12views a day w/o a single updates, i shall resume my blogging. Hahah.

This holidays been pretty fun so far, spend most of my holiday in Malaysia with randall, aloy and nick.

Initially, our trip for malaysia was meant for faciliating for some youths in Holy Spirit. It was quite an experience, i never thought i would have learned so much in those 3 days. Basically, understanding how to deal with youths and management of camps. I guess its just one of nick’s ‘training programme’ to prepare us for future camp. But it sure was fun.

All our free time weren’t used to bond with our own group members, but prata BOM, 50-sticks-of-satay-that-look-like-there-were-only-10-sticks and teh bing was our top priority. HAHAHHA

Oh yeah, and also, i finally felt like instrument of the holy spirit!! We ‘prayed over’ for the youth. Thou my weak prayers are unable to slain anyone, i made 3 youth broke down into tears. wooowwww wowww weeee….

HAHAHAHA, i tell you, the facils are seriously morbid. Randall, Dawn, Clifford Aloy, Nick.. We were bragging and so pleased when we saw so many youth crying when our music were playing, our prayers touch hearts, our sharings..

Met a few cute girls in the camp also, Randall has sieze/spear/nail down these opportunties and added them all on friendster already. I got to hand it to him, His stalking skills far supress anyone (INCLUDING YOU QAZIM!!), he even added Yvette on friendster after he met her, (within an hour). HAHHAHAAHA. Oh, and some girl wanted to kiss him in the camp too, he proved once again, he isn’t straight.

Had campfire after that, we watched for a bit, the campfire didn’t burned in the end. But Father accidently made a petrol bomb with the bottle of kerosene he was holding, LOL.
He was damn cute la, he was so depress after that cause his camp fire failed.
Speaking in his Cambodian accent

‘awww.. fire died…so sad..”

After the camp, nick randall aloy me drove down to Malacca, about 2 hours journey. We booked a 5* hotel there, which was pretty lousy for a 5 stars.

Upon arrival, we immediately knocked out. Slept from 4-6pm. Super exhausted, but because we spend about 200 bucks on lodging, we didnt want to waste the trip here. Force our ass out of bed and go shopping/eating/drinking.

Actually. all we did in Malacca was eat a hell lot.
And searching for shops that sell cheap drinks (We were bloody cheapskate, so we spend hour and half searching for a drink around some shopping centre, HAHAHHA, rejecting anything that cost above 3RM)

Close to dehydration, we finally settled for deserts. LOL

Than we drove to some ulu place, which has a damn good chinese resturant, ate a hell lot, continue our discussion and reflection regarding the camp..

..Than Aloy started to emo emo, cause he regret not humping *****A** the night before.

Randall was happy, cause he managed to twitch infront of Ren nei.

I was happy, cause my group members (Girls!!! Guys) wanted my hp number. HAHHAHAHA

Nick, He didnt give a fuck about his group members.

Than we stop by another resturant, spend 200RM on crabs. HAHAHHA, but it was good, except i couldn’t taste much cause i had a lot of ulcers in my mouth!! But still, No mercy, i ate and ate, swallowing what taste like tissue papers.

Fast forward, we than drove back to the customs. And here’s where our Malaysia Journey Begun.

We almost got ourselves jailed, perform naked squats in front of Malaysia Policemen.

CAUSE WHAT WE DID, WAS A a SERIOUS OFFENCE in MALAYSIA, as claimed by many MOTHERS and UNCLES and BOSS and PEOPLE!!
WHAT DID WE DO????

We didn’t clear malaysia customs and drove back to Singapore without official documenting our departure.

Ok here is the cliff hanger, WHAT HAPPENED NEXT????

I got to go now, soccer with the guys! Whee!

So many people is coming, (i hope).

later!

P.S.

BON VOYAGE ALOY, May you prosper in National Service!!
